Youth Program Schedule changes for Pinehurst as of 9/9/2024
Hi MKG Juniors and Teens Parents!
Finding the path to give the best experience and training to our students is an ongoing process. Over the past couple of years we have seen our program grow and we are looking at expanding our offerings for kids’ martial arts at MKG Seattle.
We currently have a wide variety of ages and belt levels in our classes as well as quite a few siblings that often come to class together. To that end, we are making the following changes to the classes to help meet these multiple factors.
Starting on September 9th, the new MKG Kids and Teens lineup for 2 Days a week and a makeup day will be as follows:
- Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday:
- Juniors age 7+ – 4:00pm-4:45pm
- White to orange – Mat A
- Green+ – Mat B
- Teens age 10-15 – 4:40pm-5:25pm – Mat A
- Juniors age 7+ – 4:00pm-4:45pm
- Monday/Wednesday: NEW ADDITION!
- Little Ninjas age 4-6 – 4:40-5:10pm Mat B
- Friday:
- Open Gym 4:00pm-4:55pm – Mat A
- Saturday:
- Black Belt Club (invite only) – 9-9:55am – Mat A
- Juniors/Teens All Level age 7+ – 9-9:45am – Mat A
Current members can pick which classes their child would like to attend before the new schedule starts by either confirming at the front desk or using the poll below.
Please select which class and which days (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) your child or children will attend. Saturday is an extra option if you can only commit to one weekday.
If you require guidance on where student should be placed, please see an instructor after class or schedule a check-in with Sifu Sam.
MKG Juniors will be at 4-4:45pm Monday-Thursday and will have two groups split across both of the mats: White – Orange belt on one mat and Green and above on the other. To help keep that sense of community, some days like Smash class and other special classes will be combined level. This will be for ages 7+.
MKG Teens will be from 4:40-5:25pm Monday-Thursday for ages 10-15. This is will be all levels for this age group with some splitting by belt level as appropriate.
MKG Little Ninjas is coming back for ages 4-6 from 4:40-5:10pm Mondays and Wednesdays. A great way to start younger kids in learning the martial arts with curriculum catered to their age group. All the techniques will help prepare them to move into the MKG Juniors/Teens program when they get older.
Fridays from 4:00-4:55pm will remain open gym for all levels.
Saturdays will stay the same with Juniors/Teens All-Ages from 9:00-9:45am and Black Belt Club from 9:00-9:55am.
Other announcements:
Sifu Sam’s office hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4:00-4:55pm. Have questions about where to place your child? What can they do to improve and prepare for their next belt test? Other questions and concerns you wish to discuss? Sifu Sam will be available for 15 minute meetings during this time. It’s recommended you make an appointment beforehand.
Note: While this is a time I can give feedback to a student and discuss what I’d like them to work on, these short meetings are not meant to be private lessons. For private lessons, please speak to the front desk or an instructor for individual rates and availability.
Black Belt Club
Is your child interested in taking the next step in the martial arts and start learning more advanced material? Starting at Green Belt, students can apply to Black Belt Club. This membership gets the student access to the advanced class on Saturdays as well as a special uniform and discounts on events and workshops. Please see an instructor for more information.
HYPE Squad
Black Belt Club members who show dedication and an interest in helping their fellow students can join HYPE squad. This is the path for those looking to assist during classes and eventually teach classes. If your child is part of Black Belt Club and interested in joining HYPE, please talk to Sifu Sam or make an appointment for further discussion of the expectations and benefits of this program.
Thank you for your continued support and please reach out to either the front desk or myself directly at sam.albert@mkgseattle.com
Best,
Sifu Sam Albert and the MKG Seattle Team
